Postpartum

The time right after the birth of a new baby is a time of great transition for families. In most of the world, with the exception of the United States, there is extended, in-home postpartum care provided for new families to help support people through this time. As a postpartum doula, I am passionate about offering unbiased, loving care to families with new babies. My practice focuses on ensuring that families have good social support, somebody to call on when issues arise, and someone dedicated to caring for them while they care for their baby. Whether it is holding space for new parents as they navigate their new “normal”, reassuring a new family about baby behavior or care, providing breastfeeding or bottle feeding support, or helping feed and nurture the parents as they feed and nurture their baby, my postpartum services are thoughtfully designed to ease the transition to new parenthood.

I can help you:

  • Take care of yourself after the physical and emotional journey of labor and birth
  • With consistent and ongoing support during your postpartum time
  • Find balance in caring for yourselves and your baby
  • Connect with your partner and your baby
  • Build and tap into your own confidence and strength as parents
  • Feel supported in making decisions for your family

Postpartum Doula Services: $250/shift

A postpartum doula is a trained professional that offers in-home support and education to new mothers and their families during the first three months of baby’s life. My services are customized to your specific needs. Typically I find myself offering emotional and social support for the whole family during the postpartum transition, physical care for the birthing person after birth, information about infant development and newborn care, and referrals to community resources that would be helpful to the family. This looks different for every family but could include listening to the family’s birth stories, preparation of healthy postpartum meals and herbal teas, belly binding, preparation of sitz baths and/or vaginal steams, abdominal warming treatments, breastfeeding support, assistance with pumping and bottle feeding, babywearing education and support, infant massage and bathing education, and personalized rituals or ceremonies to mark milestones in the postpartum transition. My shifts are 4 hours each and I work  daytimes Mondays through Thursdays.

Testimonials

Carlo Maerna

Becca was extremely helpful during the first weeks of our baby's life. She is a wonderful, well-prepared professional that works with a lot of passion and love for babies. Not only was Becca amazing during the first difficult weeks, but also helped us to find a lot of good products and learn good practices that have been very useful since. I definitely give Becca a well-deserved five stars!

You were always available to me, no matter the hour or how small the concern was.

Becca came to me in a moment of desperation. I had little to no support following my son's birth and was exhausted, over-extended, emotional, and at my wit's end. With Becca's help, support and guidance, I was able to pull it together. Regular showers, meals, breastfeeding help and sleepy time tips were just what I needed! I only wish I had contacted her sooner - like at the moment of my son's birth! If I have another baby, Becca will be my first call to help support me and my family.
