Being a doula is a calling, but what else is it – a mission? a hobby? a profession? When I began my doula practice, I had no mentorship, no community, and essentially no support from other doulas. It took me a long time to find a flow with my practice. As my practice has evolved over the last decade, doulaing aspiring and new doulas has become a huge passion of mine. I believe deeply in lifting each other up and that anytime another doula is successful, it benefits all of us. I love to support doulas in asking questions about his or her doula journey – Is doula training is right for me and, if so, which one? Is certification something I aspire to? How do I attract clients that I love to work with? Where do I find great back up doulas? How do I structure and set up my business? How many clients do I take per month? What types of continuing education should I pursue? And, maybe the hardest question: how do I find balance between my doula practice and the rest of my life?
I can help you:
- Explore more about your doula calling
- Release your fears and biases that may interrupt work with your clients
- Identify and attract your ideal clients
- With tools for establishing your doula business
- Come up with strategies for your education or continuing education
- Connect you with back up doulas and community resources
- Provide emotional support and perspective about your work
- Build and tap into your own internal confidence and strength as a doula
Doula Mentorship Circles: $120/series
Doula mentorship circles are small group gatherings with me and other doulas seeking mentorship. We meet for an hour a week for six weeks. We take turns coming up with topics for the meetings and discuss whatever is most pressing to one member each week. We spent time connecting to each other and to the heart of what called us to become doulas. We get real. We go deep. We develop strong connections and support one another. Circles are held at my home office in Glendale. The cost is $120 for each six week series. I am open to barter.
Private Doula Coaching: $100
For more specific work, I offer individual coaching and mentoring sessions for doulas. Each 1-hour session is held at my home office in Glendale. Many times, we can do a lot of work in just one session. Additional sessions can be booked as needed.
Advanced Skills Trainings: $250
A few times a year, I offer weekend advanced skills workshops for working doulas. The birth doula version is called “Beyond the Double Hip Squeeze” and the postpartum doula one is “Beyond the Swaddle”. Go here for more information or to register.
Monthly DASC Hollywood/Eastside Doula Circle
For the past five years, I have volunteered my time for mentoring, networking, and support for doulas through the Doulas Association of Southern California. We meet monthly on the second Friday morning every month from 10 am to noon at The Trails Cafe in Griffith Park. All doulas, aspiring doulas, and others in the birth community are welcome to attend. Babies and children are welcome. The event is free and only cancelled in case of rain. Would love to see you there.
Entering the field of doula work was scary and intimidating for me. I felt like passion was all I had, but that would in no way be adequate. After my training, I stumbled on a few births, but mostly wandered lost wondering how being a birth doula would ever be a full time profession and create abundance for me. That's when Becca crossed my path and eradicated my doubt and negative self talk. Her warmth was refreshing; her energy welcoming. She is eager and willing to share all her tools, knowledge, mistakes made and lessons learned. The advanced doula trainings she offers, taught me so much more than what I thought I would learn. It helped me explore my aspirations at a deep level and provided tools on how to manifest them. Very soon, the wandering became very focused step taking, and the profession now feels real, fitting to my personality, uniqueness and needs, and the opportunities for growth are endless. I really am immensely thankful to Becca for the change in perspective and the positive shift in my doula journey.
I met Becca when she graciously offered to meet me after learning I was a new doula who was struggling with continuing. She asked me about myself, my fears, and my hopes about doula work and listened to my answers. When I was done explaining, she asked “How can I help?” and in that moment, I knew I would no longer be alone in this journey. Since that day, Becca has continued to make herself available to me to listen to my concerns and questions and continually offers support, encouragement, and advice. Becca’s guidance has helped me stand in my own strength, have faith in myself and my abilities, and build a successful doula business.
Not only is Becca an amazing doula and educator, she has channeled the beauty of her presence and unbiased support to guiding new doulas through the birth of their business dreams. Her expertise is endless. She has supported me through 3 business ventures, including the growth of my doula practice. After my first long labor turned C-section as a doula, I hustled what I could to gather to take her "Beyond the Double Hip Squeeze" class. I was new to Los Angeles and new to doula work being my only source of income. I needed guidance! Her workshop was practical, applicable and current. Beyond that workshop, she follows up, makes herself accessible and genuinely cares about the growth of your business and goals. I'm grateful for her mentorship, friendship and love.
Becca revealed herself as a warm welcoming presence as I entered my new career as a Postpartum Doula. She provided guidance, friendship and shared knowledge with zest. She has an innate ability to connect and mentor. It is a blessing to know her and learn from her!
Becca is a wealth of information as well as a tower of support. There have been times on my journey where I have felt a lack of confidence and Becca has always been there to help cheer me on and see things from a different perspective. I trust her and respect her work in all of the things she does.
There has never been a question too big or too small for Becca to help me with. When I was a new doula, she always welcomed me with a warm heart and open arms. I thought that this business would be extremely competitive, but Becca is one of the staple doulas that makes it a sisterhood! She has inspired me to volunteer for leadership roles and now I help new doulas who are starting out. I am so blessed to have learned from her!
